BLACK+DECKER Steam Mop and Portable Steamer, 5-in-1, Corded (HSMC1321)

The BLACK+DECKER HSMC1321 is a steam mop designed for shoppers who want one appliance to handle floor cleaning and selected above floor tasks. Its convertible mop to handheld design is the central reason to consider it: the same product is intended for sealed floors, sealed surfaces, and glass shower doors. That makes it worth considering if your cleaning routine includes several of these areas and you would rather have a convertible design than choose a separate appliance for each task.

The 19.6 ounce capacity gives you a concrete detail to weigh against your routine. Think about the size of the areas you intend to clean and whether you prefer to work through them in one session or approach cleaning as a series of smaller tasks. Capacity alone does not tell you how much area a fill will cover, so treat it as a planning detail rather than a promise about cleaning time. The most important question is whether this capacity and the intended surfaces align with the jobs you expect it to handle.

Startup is another point in its favor. The seller states that the unit is ready in 20 seconds, which may appeal to someone who wants to fit a quick cleaning task into an otherwise busy day. The swiveling mop head is also a practical design consideration when choosing a floor cleaning appliance, since the head can change direction as you guide it. Meanwhile, the lightweight, compact design is intended to make carrying the appliance easier. These details collectively emphasize accessible setup and movement rather than a large, stationary cleaning system.

The main trade off is the corded format. You will need to account for access to a suitable power connection as you plan where to clean, rather than choosing a model on the assumption that it operates on battery power. The 19.6 ounce capacity is another consideration if your planned work spans several areas. Although the product name identifies it as a 5 in 1 model, that label alone should not determine your purchase; make sure the functions you actually want are included in the intended configuration.

Verdict: This steam mop is a sensible candidate for shoppers who want a convertible cleaner for sealed floors, sealed surfaces, and glass shower doors, with quick readiness and a compact design. If you need cordless operation, a different capacity, or clearly defined functions beyond the listed uses, compare alternatives that match those priorities more closely.

A great fit if you:

• Want one appliance that can switch between floor cleaning and handheld tasks on suitable sealed surfaces.
• Include glass shower doors in your cleaning routine and value having that use identified alongside floor cleaning.
• Prefer a compact, lightweight appliance that is intended to be easier to carry between cleaning areas.
• Value a stated 20 second ready time when fitting cleaning into short periods of available time.
• Are comfortable planning cleaning around a corded appliance rather than prioritizing battery powered operation.

Consider something else if you:

• Need to clean without relying on a power connection, in which case a battery powered alternative may suit you better.
• Expect a larger water capacity or need different functions, in which case compare a higher capacity model or one with clearly matching capabilities.

Confirm on the listing:

• Check whether the intended sealed floors, sealed surfaces, and glass shower doors match the areas you want to clean.
• Review the complete description of the 5 in 1 functions and confirm which tasks the advertised configuration supports.
• Check what comes in the box and whether any accessories you expect for handheld cleaning are included.
• Confirm the cord arrangement, power requirements, and care instructions so they suit your cleaning space and routine.

How to compare your options: Start with the surfaces you need to clean, then compare how each option handles floor and handheld tasks. The HSMC1321 combines those formats, has a 19.6 ounce capacity, and is described as ready in 20 seconds. Consider whether its capacity, corded design, compact construction, and stated uses match your priorities. Compare the functions actually described rather than relying on a product's numbered format alone, and weigh ease of carrying against your need to cover the areas you have in mind.

Begin by identifying the sealed floors and other surfaces you intend to clean. Check that each planned surface fits the stated uses, and consult the product instructions for guidance on choosing and using the appropriate configuration. This helps keep your routine focused on the jobs the appliance is intended to handle.

Make the convertible design part of your cleaning plan. You can organize floor cleaning separately from handheld tasks, including work on suitable sealed surfaces and glass shower doors. Before switching tasks, follow the manufacturer's instructions for changing between the mop and handheld configurations rather than assuming a particular conversion process.

Keep the 19.6 ounce capacity in mind when planning a session. Think through which areas you want to cover and whether it makes sense to group similar tasks together. The stated 20 second ready time may also help you plan when to start, although it does not establish how long an entire cleaning session will take.

After cleaning, follow the supplied care instructions for the appliance and its water capacity components. If a manual is included, use it to confirm the recommended care routine and the correct way to store the unit. Keep your expectations tied to the listed surfaces and functions, and check the instructions whenever you are unsure whether a particular task is suitable.
