Dyson Gen5outsize Cordless Vacuum, 250AW, 3 Power Modes, Up to 140 Minutes,²

The Dyson Gen5outsize is a large-format cordless stick vacuum built specifically for deep cleaning larger homes. By combining 250AW of suction power with an oversized bin and an expansive cleaner head, it solves the constant emptying and slow coverage issues typical of compact cordless units. It easily shifts into a handheld vacuum when you need to clean furniture, vehicle interiors, or overhead areas.

Floor coverage is handled by the Digital Motorbar XL cleaner head, which is 25 percent wider than standard heads and works across all floor types. It automatically de-tangles wrapped hair as you clean, preventing frustrating clogs from long strands and pet fur. For focused tasks, the included Hair screw tool uses an anti-tangle conical brush bar to pull hair directly off pet beds, stairs, and car seats.

Power management is straightforward thanks to three distinct modes: Eco mode for prolonged sessions, Boost mode for intensive spot pickup, and Auto mode. In Auto mode, the machine intelligently adapts suction based on the floor type underfoot to balance performance and battery lifespan. An integrated LCD screen keeps you informed by displaying active power settings, maintenance alerts, and remaining battery life down to the second.

As a trade-off, the larger format and expanded bin capacity make the machine naturally bulkier than ultra-compact stick vacuums. In addition, the listing notes conflicting run time claims of up to 60 minutes in the feature details versus up to 140 minutes in the title, and running high-intensity Boost mode will drain the battery much faster than Eco mode.

Verdict: The Dyson Gen5outsize is an excellent choice for homeowners with large floor plans and pets who need heavy-duty cordless suction without constantly stopping to empty the bin. Its smart floor adaptation and specialized de-tangling tools make whole-house upkeep significantly faster.

A great fit if you:

• Have a large home that requires wide floor coverage and high suction power
• Share your living space with shedding pets and need specialized anti-tangle tools
• Want to empty the dustbin less frequently during extended cleaning sessions
• Prefer seeing exact, second-by-second run time estimates on an onboard screen

Consider something else if you:

• Live in a compact apartment where a smaller, lighter stick vacuum is easier to store
• Only need a basic handheld for occasional light crumbs and quick cleanups
