BOSCH ROS20VSC 5 In. Palm Random Orbit Sander/Polisher

The BOSCH ROS20VSC is a 5-inch corded palm random orbit sander and polisher built for woodworkers and DIYers needing controlled, swirl-free smoothing on various materials. Powered by a 2.5-amp electric motor, it provides the steady power required to tackle everything from rough stock preparation to fine finishing tasks without bogging down.

Speed control is a central highlight, featuring a dedicated variable speed dial that adjusts the tool from 7,500 up to 12,000 OPM (no-load). This flexibility lets you match the output to sensitive contoured pieces or run at full speed on flat stock. The built-in pad dampening system is specifically engineered to reduce surface swirl marks, ensuring a cleaner finish before applying stains or topcoats.

Disc management and dust collection are handled through thoughtful hardware designs. The hook-and-loop attachment surface utilizes over 35,000 long-life hooks to keep sanding pads securely locked in place during heavy use. For cleanup, the included onboard microfilter canister captures fine dust down to a 1/2-micron in diameter. The canister twists off quickly for emptying and features a visible level indicator, while the supplied vacuum adapter allows direct connection to shop vacuums.

As a dedicated 5-inch electric model, this tool requires an active power outlet and works exclusively with 5-inch discs. The kit provides a solid starting point with an included sanding pad, dampening ring, dust canister, vacuum adapter, and carrying bag, though you will need to supply extra discs for larger jobs since only one is included in the box.

Verdict: The BOSCH ROS20VSC is a dependable choice for anyone needing a capable, variable-speed 5-inch random orbit sander with strong onboard dust filtration. It suits furniture builders, home renovators, and hobbyists looking for fine surface control and minimal swirl marks.
