Detailed Review
The Hoover SmartWash Pet Automatic Carpet Cleaner is an upright washing machine built to handle everyday carpet grime and persistent pet messes. It removes the guesswork from traditional carpet cleaning by using an automated system that handles both solution dispensing and drying cycles without manual triggers or buttons.
Operation relies on a motion-sensing mechanism: pushing the machine forward applies solution and washes the floor, while pulling it backward engages extraction to dry the carpet. An integrated Auto Mix system automatically dispenses the proper ratio of formula and water. For tough stains, the machine includes a detachable Spot Chaser Pretreat Wand alongside FlexForce Pet PowerBrushes designed to lift dirt and resist pet odors. HeatForce Technology works alongside extraction to help carpets dry faster.
For above-floor cleaning and tight spots, the package comes with an 8-foot hose and a dedicated Pet Tool, both of which store in the included accessory bag. Hoover also includes starter sample bottles of pretreat formula and pet carpet cleaner to get you started immediately.
Because this is a full-sized upright unit, it will take up standard closet space and requires maneuvering a full-sized frame around furniture. The manufacturer details also do not list the exact liquid capacity for the clean and dirty water tanks, so you will need to monitor fluid levels visually during large cleaning sessions.
Verdict: The Hoover SmartWash Pet is an excellent choice for pet owners and busy households seeking an easy, trigger-free carpet cleaner with built-in pretreating tools. It simplifies deep carpet maintenance while delivering targeted stain treatment right out of the box.
