Shark CarpetForce HairPro Lightweight Upright Carpet & Rug Cleaner, EX551

The Shark CarpetForce HairPro EX551 is a dedicated upright carpet and rug cleaner designed to pull out ground-in grime and heavy pet hair that standard vacuums leave behind. It serves homes with pets or high-traffic rugs, offering deep extraction power in a lightweight, space-saving format that is simple to steer and store.

Cleaning performance relies on the PowerFins brushroll and HairPro technology, which maintain continuous contact with fibers to capture embedded debris. This setup is built to prevent clogs and hair wrap, picking up significantly more pet hair than earlier Shark units like the EX200. When dealing with different types of messes, you can toggle between two modes: Deep Clean Mode uses high-powered suction to lift deep grime for a full reset, while Express Clean Mode cuts dry times roughly in half for fast surface refreshes.

Usability is supported by a lightweight body that is up to 42 percent lighter than bulkier machines like the Hoover Power Scrub. The unit features a compact profile and a removable wand, making it practical to maneuver into tight corners or tuck away into small storage closets. The package also includes a 12oz bottle of Shark Deep Clean Ultra formula with Stain Guardian, which helps protect fibers against future spills when used as directed.

As for trade-offs, getting the fastest turnaround time requires using Express Clean Mode, as Deep Clean prioritizes maximum extraction over drying speed. The included cleaning formula bottle is relatively small at 12 ounces, meaning heavy cleaning routines will require restocking soon, and the listing does not specify water tank capacities or cord length.

Verdict: The Shark CarpetForce HairPro EX551 is an excellent match for pet owners and busy households that need powerful carpet washing without hauling a heavy machine. It delivers thorough dirt extraction and rapid-drying options in a convenient, compact package.
